Back on the Coast to Coast

Today we started out from Shap at about 9:00am. The only low point today was Margaret's terrible cooking. She was a lovely lady but she is no Julia Childs. Today we walked 10 miles and we did it in about five hours, that is record time for us. The landscape is very different now that we are out of the mountains and into the dales! Now we are walking through rolling hills on grassy paths, so glad to be off the rocks! We saw few people today and everyone we saw quickly passed us! We did talk to one female biker and it turned out she was from New Orleans! I asked her if she knew Chris and Jill but she did not. At the end of our walk we headed into the little village of Orton to visit the chocolate factory and on the road into town we met Sonja and Ralf our German angels! They seemed very happy to see us, I guessed they missed rescuing us! They are such nice people, we will miss them because they are ending their walk tomorrow when we get to Kirkby Stephens! They have to go back to work but they think they might finish the rest some other time. Our host tonight is going to drive us to town to the pub for dinner, I wonder who we will meet tonight?

  2. I agree, the pictures are beautiful. I do envy you for this experience. Can't wait to hear about it in person. Now put the knitting needles away and start walking again. I want to see more countryside.
PS Did you meet up with Queen Elizabeth walking her Corgies?? Everett

  3. Am sending your blog to Bill. The guy needs some inspiration! He is doing a big hike in the Sierras August and needs to get in shape!
